“There’s a special rung in hell reserved for people who waste good scotch.” Lt. Archie Hicox. We aged our very first American Pale Ale using harshly cut oak chips from whisky barrels destined to serve a further purpose.

330ml bottle from POPP, Griza, Malta (€3.60):
Translucent amber with a thin, quarter cm lacing that's thinner towards the middle. Fruity & sweet pine hops initially with some mango but it's quite a thin body, some bitter malts towards the end too but slightly disappointing overall.

Poured from 330mL bottle into a tumbler. Best by 1/21/26.
Appearance: medium pale orange hue with a dash of haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop.
Smell: lightly sweet and toasty malt with some floral hop accents. I don’t necessarily get oak, but it’s kinda nice.
Taste: a bit of toasty malt, some of that floralness from the aroma, and a kind of yeasty “beeriness”. I know that last descrptor is unhelpful but it means something to me, anyway. Just kinda a very generic beer flavor. It’s not bad, but it’s unremarkable.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: like I said, kinda unremarkable. Of all the Huskie pale ales I’ve had, I think this is the one I like most, and actually this might go well with food. But by itself, it’s just a beer.
