Day fresh flagon (a.k.a. growler). Pours very dark brown/chestnut color with a semi-creamy medium khaki head. The roasted barley, roasted wheat, roasted rye & chocolate malt grain bill dominates both the nose and taste... but not exclusively. Smells of campfire ashes, almonds, coffee grounds and a hint of citrus. Taste starts out a little sweet with some orange/tangerine type flavor mixed in with a nutty roasted barley presence, moves into a more burnt toast and espresso in the middle, and finishes dry with a hint of bitter chocolate and pine. Soft full-bodied mouthfeel. This very well could be Emerson's best offering to date in my opinion. It'll be sad to see this one disappear from around town.
