The beer pours a bright orange, amber color with a frothy head.
The smell has the birch wood in there, it is a pleasant, sweet wood, which has some fresh wood. Next to that comes a smell which must be coming from the whisky malt, a medicinal and seaweedlike smell that is a little weird and disgusting, but also reminds a little of Japanese food.
The taste is a little less weird, with the birch wood coming through and the seaweed is a little pushed back. The base of the beer is a Dortmunder kind of style, with a sweet malty taste and a decent bitterness. A solid base beer with the whisky malt and birch aging adds an interesting note.
