A copper golden beer with lots of carbonation and a big head that lasts a long time.
Smell is light malty and fresh. Some biscuity whiffs.
Taste is mild, light malty notes and some dextrinous hints. A light bitterness that combines well with the maltiness. Body is medium and drinkability is OK. For a Maibock this beer is not malty enough and misses a good deal of dextrines.

S: There is a slight metallic smell right from the start, although the moderate amount of dark roast malt is up front as well. There is a hint of fermentation notes, so not as clean a lagering process as it could have been but it's not a severe flaw either.
A: A jewel clear lager that is dark copper in color with a garnet hue. The head is light brown in color and comprised of mostly fine bubbles that leave some lacing on the glass.
F: A hint of metallic flavor messes with the first few sips but then the moderate amount of dark roast malt starts showing itself over time.
M: Crisp, with a medium level of carbonation.
O: Spot on for a Swartz just without the liveliness of a great one. I'd gladly take this of a domestic lager on a hot day and at 5.0 ABV, I probably throw back a few.

Half-litre bottle: best before 30 Dec 2012, poured into an 'Old Speckled Hen' badged pint vase @ home on 4 Nov 2012.
Clear, bright and clean looking golden brew: on top a good, full snow white foaming crown.
The nose is mildly caramel malty, with slight yeasty, cut grass and earthy notes.
I expected a little more in the taste stakes: sweetish, malty and alcohol all evident but no real Bock type strength or depth. The finish is leaning towards a hoppy bitterness but the caramel sweetness almost blots it out. Not enough character for me.
Went nicely with some Leerdammer, dry crackers and olives, but it just 'didn't float my boat' for a top Light Bock.

From 2013: Nice bock beer from Germany. Sort of sweet, yet bitter also.Aroma is sourish, taste is malty with some mild hop bitterness. Nice flavor, but looks kind of flat in the glass.

50cl bottle poured into Paulaner seidel.
BBE 21 April 2011
A- Light copper body with excellent clarity. 2 finger creamy off white head that reduces quickly to a thin crown. Lacing is poor.
S- Minimal character. A little toffee malt and pepper but otherwise hard to pick out anything. No hop profile as expected.
T- Minimal again, a touch of malt with a hint of alcohol heat in the finish. Finish is perhaps not as dry as the classic examples of the style.
M- Medium carbonation, clean lager finish. Nice mouthfeel but as said before maybe not as dry as the classic examples.
D- No real depth/complexity of malt character really. Mouthfeel is good and its an easy drinker just instantly forgettable.

Makes a great presentation with three fingers of light tan head that sticks around for a good bit. The lacing doesn't totally stick well to the glass, but that's typical for the style, yo. Body wise, it's clearly filtered and is light copper/amber in color.
The aroma is pretty much caramel dominant, with very slight metallic aromas like that of pennies.
The taste is a little thin, with husky grains and slight herbal finish.
Mouth feel wise this brew is well crafted. Prickly carbonation brings good crispness, and the alcohol is hidden with zero warmness from the higher ABV, which leads this brew to be highly drinkable.

BB 27-8-05. Hardly any foam to get into the glass and gone before first sip was made. Darker brew then most "heller"bocks have being ambercoloured. Nose is very malty with ambernotes and litle caramellic taste with cardboard. Quiet alcoholic and no hopnote to be detected. Taste is bombastic but IMO of no high level. Full malted flavor, unfresh, hanging to the sweetside and poor hopping are the first things I noted. No this is not my kind of brew, doesn't feel right in the mout either, scharp edges and not plesant.
Drinkable but nothing to remember IMO.
