Aged in Bourbon Barrels that previously held one of our dark cherry ales, adding interesting notes of cherry and vanilla to the original base beer

I was wondering if this was going to happen since they released their first cherry ale.
Pours an opaque black with moderate carbonation and a thin head. The nose has a cacophony of different notes. Tart cherry. Oak. Vanilla. Milk chocolate. Those barrels must have absorbed a lot of the cherry flavor from the ales, because there is a lot of cherry in the taste. A very subtle tartness, since their cherry ales are sours. Some bourbon, some chocolate. The cherry is what I get the most of. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side of medium.
It's a nice beer overall but I prefer something that is more chocolate or coffee forward in a stout. But that's my take.
