Zoigl is a style of beer with quite a history in this region of Bavaria. Difficult to define the style with the choices available but cellar beer is appropriate.

“Oberpfälzer Bierqualität aus Weiden—naturtrüb und unfiltriert” on the label. Love the Zoigl bier concept/history, excited to try this. Snagged a few half liter bottles. Nicked on the label as best by March 2024. Ultimately it’s really just a regional zwickel/keller with a cool story. Pours a rich golden amber. A very yeasty, slightly funky aroma and flavor. Certainly a special beer and a unique style. Super smooth, rich but not filling, heavy on the barny qualities. Finish is a surprisingly hoppy, fruity mouthfeel. The kind of beer you need to enjoy in large quantities in a small village with local folks and friends.
