Having this beer on-tap at the brewery, this beer draws a clear, medium to dark brown color with a tan/light brown head that's about 2/3 of an inch thick when first drawn and served that settles to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with some small spots of surface foam along with excellent lacing. Aromas of some roasted malt along with hints of chocolate, coffee, certainly some toasted oatmeal. The taste is very much the same, with the aforementioned roasted malts, coffee bitterness, and some dark chocolate with subtle sweetness all being right up front on my palate after each sip. Next comes the oatmeal flavor. Rounded out w/ a bit of an earthy hop presence. Has a slightly crisp, mostly smooth and frothy, slightly creamy, full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. All of the flavors linger nicely on my palate for awhile after each sip for a nice aftertaste. A good beer here all around. A very nice representation of this beer style.
