This one was drunk fresh at the source in June 2024.
L: Nearly opaque, burnt toffee/amber with a long-lasting, fluffy, mocha-coloured head. Tiny bubbles rush up the glass.
S: Rich toffee malts, sweet vanilla, a touch of coffee and some minerality.
T: Sweet licorice, some raspberry, some burnt toffee. Earthy/dirty hops. There was no hint of the 7% ABV, but I noticed warming in my gut and gullet about halfway through the beer. My only query would be whether it should be more aggressive in its malt body or more aggressively hopped, but it's bloody lovely.
M: This beer is very smooth and full-bodied. The carbonation and carbonic bite are minimal and suit the rich, tangy flavours well.
O: This is a Baltic Porter that begs a second glass, which makes it a dangerous foe. Heads of Noosa have done a great job here.
Cheers!
