12oz bottle shared courtesy of egajdzis.
Poured a dark and muddy brown color with an average sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, light coffee, and light smoke. Tastes of roast, smoke, chocolate, and coffee. Thinner body.

Thanks to egajdzis for this...
Appears a black with brown edges with small light tan head that fades into a little cap. Little speckles of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of roasty malt, butter, and coffee grounds.
Taste is slightly sour, astringent, coffee, sweet, and only balanced by the bitter coffee and hops that seem strange against the sweetness.
Mouthfeel is bitter, sweet, and very thin. I wasn't too impressed with this.

dark but not opaque. tan colored head that's maybe a bit too small for the type. not much odor, just some vague sweet smells. roaty taste, roasted malts. too thin overal i think. good drinkability but not the best porter ive had by any means. oh well. still ok with Back road because their blueberry ale was a really pleasant surprise.

Shared with friends at a GABF 05 tasting.
Almost has an old ale aroma. Some chocolate, musty, earthy, black licorice and a dash of chocolate cake. Flat black with low carbonation and a limp head. Licorice, choclate, soy sauce, chocolate cake, and a muted roasted profile. It almost tastes aged despite being from 05. I wonder if the brewery ages this themselves.

Poured form a bomber with an orange label that screams underground, this beer emerged dark brown in colour with a decent sized head that looked like hot chococlate froth. Lace deposits formed early in the tasting, but subsided down the back road.
The nose was comprised mostly of banana fondu scents. Banana esters galore. Banana bread with chocolate drizzle. Some might say off, but here it is so on. Smells delicious. Creamy dairy scents come through as well. Man this smells like dessert.
Tastes include the banana chocolate fondu thing to a delicious extent. A fair amount of bitter character accents this delightful fruity chocolate taste. There are definite powdery cocoa feelings and dairy lactose impressions which add milky sour effects. There is also a banana breadiness as well. Dipped in drippy chocolate of course.
Mouthfeel is medium and is spot on for the overall feel of the brew.
Drinkability is good. This is a very tasty beer. It reinforces my idea that porters are hard to muddle. Even with the bizarre fruitiness this beer comes out tasting like a champ. Back Road is still under suspicion in my eyes, but this porter of theirs is a treat.

I picked this beer up while visiting the in-laws in Plymouth, Indiana.
Pours a dark brown with a vigorous head that disappears quickly. Some light lacing, too.
Taste is malty with chocolate, toffee, dark spices and licorice. Very pleasant and surprisingly good.
Mouthfeel is a little thin and a little bit too much carbonation bite.
Very drinkable. Glad I picked it up.
