Had on tap.
A- Poured a nice amberish color. One finger white head shows light retention. Steaky lacing on the sides of the glass.
S- Alcohol right off the bat with this beer. It tingles the nose and threw me for a loop. After letting this sit for a second I took another couple of whiffs. Piney and earthy hops in the front of the aroma dominate most everything about this beer smell wise. Caramel malts shows for a split second before the alcohol comes back into play. Light grapefruit like ending pretty much brings this one full circle.
T- The alcohol comes right out with the first taste along with piney hops. The hops show force in the front but toward the middle there is a light syrupy sweetness that comes from the caramel malts. Light piney flavor turns more citrus by the ending of the beer. Alcohol comes back and in a huge medicinal flavor in the very end killing off most other flavors.
M- Medium heavy mouthfeel. Carbonation is light for the style. On the palate is alcohol heat, caramel malts, and bitter piney hops. Aftertaste is alcohol heat, hints of malt, and citrusy/piney hops as well. Flavors were a little off for the style I thought. Alcohol heat was the only off flavors which came through a little too strong most of the time. High alcohol drying on the palate.
O- Not a good beer in my opinion. The alcohol heat was just too much along with a syrupy sweetness. I did try to drink this a couple of different times but I didn't really finish it at all. A good try but just too way off to be good.
