Contains unspecified heritage malt, Goldings hops, YQ wheat, and expressive yeast.
This pours turbid gamboge colour, no head. The smell is initially reticent, but there’s something faintly off about it, sort of like halitosis. This transfers to the mouth, initially overpoweringly so, though it weakens somewhat. and i’m left trying to describe whatever i can underneath this unpleasant blanket. The malts are fairly sweet, of caramel with a light wheatiness combining to evoke treacle tart. The hopping provides a refreshing and intensely varied finish, with powerful notes of papaya, fresh flowers, marjoram, and a sour citric finish. The bouquet opens up further down the glass, with the hops imparting a distinct tropical sense. That unpleasant initial flavour has weakened further, and the flavours settle in, with banana in the finish by the last drop. This is better than initially feared, but thought the flavours are distinctive, they just aren’t especially nice.
