This West Coast IPA is a perfect balance of hoppiness and maltiness in one can. El Dorado (“golden”) hops bring nice bitterness, and aroma of a ripe peach jam complementing the slightly malty flavor.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium golden amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, lemon and mixed tropical fruit. Flavor is pale and biscuit malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, lemon, grapefruit, light mixed tropical and stone fruit; moderate bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A somewhat laid back IPA with a softness to the hops like with many fruit forward hazies, but with some decent citrus to lean in the direction of the West Coast style. Mellow, but with enough bitterness in the finish to keep my interest. Interesting light biscuit to the malt that hints at English influence. Not assertive, but the El Dorado hops hold their own here. A satisfactory, but not exciting hybrid West/East Coast IPA.
