Better beer. A craft brewery that's produced a modest number of beers to date, founded in part by the Australian comedian group 'The inspired unemployed'.
Vessel: 355ml can, the livery is somewhat retro, creamy white with blue and green stripes. Purchased at the Glenfield Bottle Shop, Sydney. Best Before March 1, 2024.
Appearance: Looking somewhere between a West Coast-Style IPA and a lager, Golden straw colour, thin fizzy head. Plenty of carbonation. Looks alright.
Aroma: Classic tropical nose. Bright citrus, pineapple, mango, passionfruit. Light creamy vanilla malt, smells refreshing, inviting and thirst quenching.
Taste: Follows through from the nose. Tropical fruits, a smooth malty sweetness that borders on a hint of vanilla. Minimal bitterness, but the carbonation is sharp. Overall flavour is light, and after a few sips it's gets a bit soda watery, especially with the high level of carbonation. That said it's fresh and no bad flavours - there is a slight mettalic fug in the aftertaste, reminiscent of mineral/soda water.
Feel: Light and refreshing. 4.2% ABV means it's thin, and it does have a somewhat soda watery element about it. Perfectly acceptable in hot humid and tropical heat.
Overall: Eh, it's not mind blowing, but it's a hell damm better than any of the big macro lagers out there. It drinks like a mid-strength, at full strength ABV. A good 'Arvo' sipper by the beach or Barbeque.
