Exceptional head with aggressive lacing at pour, fades gradually. Taste is dark fruit, sugary sweet but balanced throughout complimented by the barrel. A very nice bourbon-barrel quad. Probably a bit thinner than I would have liked / anticipated.

On-tap at Max's during their Belgian beer fest.

Dark brown to black pour with hardly any head. The aroma is of dark fruits and hints of bourbon with vanilla underneath, mixed with some caramel malts. Tastes more like a quad, the bourbon is only noted at the end. It's a fruity quad with a nice oaky vanilla finish. Light body and low carbonation, but very drinkable. This was a nice start to the evening. Delicious.

On tap at Max's during their annual Belgian fest.

The beer pours a reddish brown color with fair head retention and lacing. On the nose I get considerable brown sugar and chocolate, along with something of a calvados apple brandy aroma as well. While the beer smells pretty nice, it's even better on the palate, with the bourbon flavor blending beautifully with the brown sugar, apple brandy and chocolate. This beer is just delicious and is just so easy to enjoy (especially if one has a fondness for bourbon). Also, while the beer is fairly sweet, it's not heavy or cloying on the palate, and I thought it carried its 10% abv. quite well. The beer is medium bodied at most, with a long, sweet, spice infused finish. This beer is all too drinkable, and to no great surprise, was clearly a popular hit at the fest. Good stuff!
