Notes via stream of consciousness: It seems like there's going to be a lot of marketing behind this beer but will it help? I guess it might, you can sell almost anything to people who are looking more for image than quality. Of course the label reads "HOMENAJE A LA GENTE QUE HACE LAS COSAS CON PASIÓN' / A tribute to people who do things with passion so who knows? It's poured a crystal clear golden body beneath a full head of bright white foam that's held quite well while I typed all of that. The aroma is clean and malty but I'm not finding any hops. On to the taste then... it's as the aroma suggests it will be except that there are some minor hops which are subtly herbal and earthy. This is brewed with corn as an adjunct but it's not overdone, and I get it in the flavor but I've also been brewing professionally for around 30 years so I don't think most people will. I don't see it as a negative here, and having gained an understanding of Spanish cervezas and the people who drink them I see it as a bonus. The corn helps to thin the malt flavor out and then dry it a bit. There's some bitterness to it as well, but not much, and that's what you want: a non-bitter beer that's still mainly dry in the finish. Of course those beers are already available so I'm not sure how this is going to come off except for the marketing side. If the image of Brutus on the label works they might have something. If not, the beer itself isn't that great. It is a little more refined than a lot of the beers on the market but it also costs more which is an issue. Back to the beer itself, it's brewed with Hallertauer Herkules (bittering) and Hallertauer Select but they don't come through clearly in the taste. In the mouth it's medium-light bodied and gently crisp. The head has held up really well and it's left some very nice lacing behind. I think it's a good beer but it's not great.
