L- Dark 'old gold'. Pours with 5mm fine white head that's slowly receding to lacing.
S- I don't get anything distinguishable. The lable suggests 'white flowers and citrus'
T- Oh, considering the above it has more to it than expected. Quite a deep roastiness balanced by quite deep puddingy richness. This would go very well with Xmas pudding.
F- It certainly has a decent amount of hops, this also is balanced by the richness. The fact it's 5.9% adds to the sense of richness, and I clearly register on my tongue that this is a higher than average ABV% brew.
O- I haven't a sweet-tooth and the richness of this beer is right around my limit of crossing over into outright sweet. It's 50kcals/100ml which seems surprisingly high for an IPA. Anyway, it's an impactful beer and if the idea of a richer, higher ABV% IPA with a sensible hop-balance appeals this might be just the ticket for you.
From Sainsbury's 'Taste the Difference' range of premium F+B. 500Ml bottle. BB: 20/Oct/2019.
