A traditional Czech lager brewed in the three-mash method. Following the classic method gives this beer a full body and more maltiness. A subtle hop aroma and a pleasant bite define Žatecký poloraný červeňák.

Copenhagen 4/2 2025. 50 cl can from DrikBeer web-shop. White can with a rendering of a droopy eyed lady and the name of beer and brewery I red letters.
Pours uncle golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as 0,3 cm thick layer of lumpy foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a light sweet malty odor mingling with a stronger grainy and citric scent of freshly mown grass and tart fruit. Sweet pale malts and bread. Oranges, citrus and lemon.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lively and tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a light sweetness followed by a strong, citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.
Fresh and bitter Pilsner. Despite the old lady glaring at me from the can with drops eyes.
