Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a medium to dark golden/orange amber with a one finger white head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of faintly caramel malt and a vegetal element somewhere between pumpkin and carrot; mild. Flavor is caramel malt, carrot and light spicing; slightly sweet and malty. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. This was interesting. I wasn't sure what to expect and rather hoped it wouldn't be a cloying dessert ale and got my wish. The malt is lightly sweet, at about the level of a AAL, but without the corn flavor. I could detect carrot in both the aroma and flavor, but only because I was looking for it; this could have been a pumpkin or squash ale and actually is spice a little like a pumpkin ale. I'm a big fan of the latter. The malt is solid although the aroma is quite mild and the slight sweetness and mellow carrot are both nicely handled. I could see picking this up between pumpkin ale seasons. I like it. #2 from the BIPOC box from Half Time.
