my first from these guys, a tasty and really fruit driven saison, maybe not super well refined, this is murky and thick in this space, but its packed with what must be real blueberries, and i think the ferment is nice, great flavors and freshness to this, juicy and good, wheaty and fuller, modern and fun, really cool. lavender to crayon purple color to this, some frosty foggy body and sediment but still a decent head, could be cleaner looking but the color is appealing anyway. the nose is tart fruit the fruit rather than sweet, tannic and skinny, with subtle red wine character and some light white pepper and coriander spiciness from the yeast. the grain is there, off dry it seems, all real cohesive. the flavor is fruit forward too, easily identifiable as blueberries with a little tang and a little sugar, but ripe and real, and compatible with the yeast, less estery and belgian seeming than a lot of clean saison types are, which is a smart call in this context, lets the fruit run out in front. fluffy feeling, long on the palate without being sugary, somewhat intense overall on the fruit i guess, but its good. i ran out of time to check out the brewery when i was in town, but stoked to have at least had the chance to try one of their beers. enjoyed this real well and will hit them up next time!
