Picked up at a gas station in southern Bavaria. Standard brown 1/2 liter bottle with a blue and white label featuring a medieval herald blowing on a horn. Purity law applies, of course. Best before 10/28/07, I opened it on 4/28/07.

Pours a solid clear gold under a two finger white head that settles slowly but perceptibly, leaving a couple of lace strings along the way. Mild grainy malt nose with a hint of flowers. Slightly heavy, well carbonated mouth. A touch on the sweetish side in the opening, more fruit than candy. Lots of grain, too, giving it a good Helles profile. The hops are mild and slightly dry, leaving just a hint of bitter in the aftertaste. Not a bad rendition of the style, but not much to get excited about, either.
