From a 750ml crawler purchased at the brewery. Filled on 7-19-2025.
The beer is very dark pouring in the glass - pretty much pitch black in color. No clarity to the beer. There's a 1 finger tan colored head that has decent retention to it, but no lacing on the glass.
The aroma is dominated by the malts. I am getting a nice hit of chocolate on my nose. The chocolate does have some hints of being roasted, and is more of a dark chocolate. There's hints of a creamy character to it, and some lactose and some sweetness to it.
Taste - The flavor does start out with the chocolate being more sweet than the nose let on, but it is not over the top sweetness. There's a creamy lactose component to the beer flavor, that is quite creamy. The back does get more into a roasted dark chocolate flavor, with just a touch of bitterness on the finish.
The body does seem a bit thin, though it is quite creamy and smooth feeling.
Well I would say that this beer is a winner. Even the slight thinness isn't really much of a knock against it.
