An unusual brew - it’s sort of a ‘lite’ barleywine (9.2 abv), and as such it lacks the richness that is expected for the style. Best drank at 50 degrees or more.
If it had been labeled an ‘old ale’ I’d be good with that.
The vanilla is faint, which is a plus.
I enjoyed it, but it didn’t ‘scratch’ my barleywine ‘itch’.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a lightly hazy, medium reddish orange with a half finger off-white head that dissipates to a thin film with light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, light stone fruit and light toffee; subdued. Flavor is dry caramel malt, apricot, hints of orange citrus, dry toffee, light vanilla and light to moderate hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A idiosyncratic take on an American style barleywine. Good caramel malt base, but the fruit notes are a bit muddled, although they do lean to the light stone fruit of the American style. The vanilla is light as it should be, but sits in the background. The profile is kinda like an imperial cream ale; somewhat dialed back from full barleywine glory. A pleasant quaff, but doesn't stand out. Looks nice. Odd name for a product, does not inspire excitement.
