they call this a porter, but its a light one, a brown porter at the most, almost more brown ale, but its a nice place to be for drinkability, leaving the heavy bitter roast mostly out and leaning into a lightly sweet chocolate malt complexion that really hits for the fall season, one of their simplest but also not far off their best beers ive had so far, cool to have so much of their stuff in the idaho market of late. chestnut red on the edges, deep brown in the middle, good airy frothy tan head from the tap, big bubbles and some lace. the aroma is cocoa and light caramel, not too sugary but some sweetness there from the grain for sure, a hint of cola to me, toffee, maple, definitely autumnal, not hoppy but there is balance to this, well rounded and minimal in an endearing way, certainly teasing its very high drinkability right away. the flavor follows, all or most of the sweetness is early, some darker chocolate and even leathery character past the center, some roast pushing into that porter range, but no big espresso notes or anything to this, mellower than that, hazelnut and almond, dark bread, cozy in a way beers this low in alcohol so rarely are, and i think really nicely refined overall with good carbonation, a very light body as porters go, and a repeatability that is one of its most defining features. i think this style is a lost art, and i was very pleased with this. hope to drink more during the chilly months coming up...

Had at brewery yesterday. Pours a light dark brown color with a small to medium head. Aroma is light chocolate and malty grains. Mouthfeel is light to medium, which is almost perfect for a light bodied Porter. This is not my favorite style of beer, but this one is very good for the style. Rated 2-11-2024

I wish they wouldn't put the beer name in such tiny print, but what the heck, it's a PORTER. Aromatic with roasted grain and a hint of honey. Pleasant grainy sipping experience with sudsy mouthfeel and lots of flavor. Just slightly sweet, but plenty malty with Some dark stuff in the back of the throat, but well carbonated and pillowy on the tongue. Some caramel to start, bitter chocolate finish and rather bitter with charred grain in the aftertaste. Interesting but a little harsh after some sipping. From the 16 oz can purchased at Town & Country Market. Dated 08/29/24.
