Recluse Brew Works in Washougal, Wash. Another brewery new to me. Pours a very dark orangey color with plenty of foam in the Kasteel chalice. I'd have to say it almost entirely unlike the Mexican supposed Viennas. Quite malty and very shy with hops, but just the right mouthful coming in the door on yet another chilly evening up here north of the Puget Circle.
Clean and quite flavorful with malty, bread, and roasted grain. Aroma is grain and chestnuts. Adequate spritz on the tongue. Just a hint of leafy hops and a winey finish. Altogether a fine Lager in the darker and maltier style. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated 01/11/24.
