not sure ive heard of an irish style pils before, which is different than pils made in ireland, obviously, as we learned from the italian pils, so not really sure what i am getting into here, but its a very light and easy down lager, nuanced i suppose but not exactly loaded with personality, solid from a quality standpoint, but even after a pint im not sure i get it, is there irish lager yeast in this or something? its loosely old world in aroma and flavor, its dry and well lagered, a little dusty, mineral forward, and doughy, but its not radical in this at all, and it tastes continental and still recognizable, even if its supposed to be the unique element in here, not sure what else it would be. super pale straw colored brew, very thin light haze through it, a pretty and airy white head from the tap about an inch high and settling back rather quickly, good carbonation the whole way. the aroma is european, earthy and dry, cereal type grain character, cheerios and special k, agricultural, light on the hops but herbal and apparent, and the lager yeast, nicely proportioned but again the irish part of this isnt leaping out of the glass. the flavor is good, it all kind of hits at once but the balance is what stands out, nice back end hop, light as it is, its important in here, adds a little freshness to this, the minerality is defining, and the grain side of this is super light, crackery and clean on the swallow, light enough in body to seem almost inadequate, but with the high carbonation its not watery or anything, just crazy minimal overall. for me this fails to really distinguish itself as something unique, i think the irish part has to be the yeast, but its a long way from establishing a new regional type of lager here or anything, its good, super drinkable, thirst quenching, refreshing, all of that, and its well crafted no doubt, but i was expecting something a bit more unique given the language they use. either way, its a nice patio drinker from a brewery doing a lot of fun lagers right now, limitless drinkability.
