a really fantastic fresh hop pils here, among the early leaders of the fresh hop beers for me this year, love the name, love it all, the best recluse beer i have had to date perhaps too, or darn near it, on tap and max fresh. lorien hops in this, cool in this lager context, the beer is highly refined, bright yellow in the glass, pretty close to clear, high headed with frantic and consistent carbonation, super lively and bright and even elegant, intricate white lace as it drinks, and boy does it drink! aroma is so fresh, the lorien has a cannabis quality to it, but also an almost aloe-like lushness thats real uncommon, subtle green melon, lime, and cape gooseberry too, verdant without green harshness, this isnt overdone at all, and the base pils is clean, well lagered, and pretty neutral, less eurpean to me on both grain and yeast, but it works to leave more space for the hops and i think the balance here is great, really quality base lager. the lorien is way more unique fresh to me than it generally presents in pellet form, real different, lush again and with subtle tropical character, rambutan and green papaya, and a quickness about it that usually goes with bitterness but this isnt really bitter at all, its dry and snappy and very well lagered, professional quality. the hops are so well integrated, the water chemistry is perfect, and some late green grape and almost cucumber water characteristics emerge, faint elderflower, fresh and refreshing, gorgeous drinker, a cool take on wet hop beer, way way good!
