Cheers to our first anniversary, the paper anniversary. Back in the day you got yourself a paper ticket to ride the rides! Enjoy this Russian Imperial that we rested in medium charred barrels for 3 months!

poured from freshly-filled 16 oz. can into a snifter. It pours a dark walnut color with a half finger of frothy, khaki-colored head and a thin sheen of lacing. The smell is big and fragrant with roasted malt, freshly-brewed coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, char, tobacco smoke, and the scent of black cherry/dark fruit. The taste follows with a pretty good balance of earthy char, acidic coffee, and slightly sour dark cherry. The barrel influence is modest. It finishes with pronounced bitterness (43 IBU). The mouth feel is a little thin for the style but the carbonation level is appropriate and you can feel the 11.4% ABV. Russian Imperial Stout is my favorite beer style and my standard is very high. While Paper Ticket is not among the leaders of the style it's a fine offering from a new new brewery. I enjoyed it.
