a flavorful india pale lager from a brewery i didnt know existed before i had this, at least i dont think i knew. a tricky style and one we dont see that much of anymore, at least by name, as the space has moved to cold ipa or west coast pils or whatever else folks are calling it now. this is a little rough and ready, hazy in a style i generally look for to be clear, but the flavors are nice, freshness is on point, and the hop complexion is very tasty. a little sweet maltiness to this, perhaps a bit deeper and richer than the beer calls for, but the balance is there and i dont mind it being a tad more hearty than most. nice hops on this, up front citrus and yellow florals with some back end lemon lime soda and bitterness, well dry hopped it seems, and nicely selected in terms of varietals, seems complete spectrum and distinctive to me, maybe lightly soapy as it warms, but never unpleasant. its got some body which i think slows it a little, and its less refined overall that is ideal, but the carbonation is good and i like the aftertaste too. a solid first impression from prodigy, i hope to stop in sometime when cruising through, this one shows a lot of promise. enjoyable summery hop profile, not much from the lager yeast and lacking that crispness, but its good anyway...
