Bold and full-bodied, our barleywine showcases intense malt character with a touch of caramel sweetness and a hoppy edge. Smooth and warming, it’s perfect for savoring slowly.

Name: Sweater Weather
Brewery: Prodigy Brewing
Location: Logan, UT
Style: Barleywine
ABV: 11%
Canned: Unknown 2025
Date: 24 June 2025
Sweater Weather was given to me by a friend; I never knew Logan, UT, had this brewery. I am using a tulip glass and serving the beer at 50 degrees. The pour created a frothy, foamy, one-finger light tan head with excellent retention. The somewhat slow dissipation left lacing on the glass. The head settled to a ring around the beer. The beer is amber with a reddish-orange hue, charting at SRM 18, and semi-transparent. The appearance of the beer is above average for a barley wine.
Nosing the glass, I can smell caramel, resin, raisins, toasted malts, treacle, a floral bouquet, herbs, earthiness, malty sweetness, and a faint citrus note.
Sipping the beer, I taste caramel, malty sweetness, bready, biscuit, resin, raisins, dates, toasted malts, light orange, floral, earthy, light bay leaves, and a hint of pine.
The mouthfeel is coating and finishes warm. The body is medium-plus and has low carbonation.
The mouthfeel is slightly astringent and finishes warm. The body is heavy and has medium carbonation.
Final Thought: Sweater Weather is a combination of American and English barleywine. It has an immense malt body with a hop kick. The hops are not overbearing, making this beer enjoyable. It's a delicious finish to a long day.
