From the half liter bottle, it pours a clear golden color with a modest bubbly white head that soon dimishes to a ring and island. The nose gets some light sweet malt and some roasted notes. The mouth gets a surprisingly sharp bite of carbonation and malt initially from the brew, followed by a pleasant light malty flavor.

True to its name, this is a strikingly gold Märzen. It doesn't have that darker orange/amber color that some Americans may expect from a Märzen. The smell is pleasant but not too noticeable or strong. The taste is really nice, strong and malty, quite sweet as well. Certainly more full-bodied in both flavor and feel compared to this brewery's Pils or Helles. Overall I really enjoyed it, would buy again if I'm ever in the region where it's sold.
