neat little summery kettle sour, watermelon flavored, unlikely to be brewed with real watermelon, but the flavor is good, less forced than it seemed in their cream ale series, and this ends up a refreshing mass appeal type sour, not too acidic and clean on the souring too, rather professionally done, and i like that they didnt let it go too puckery, the name is right on, just a little pucker here. no color from watermelon, no real head from the tap, my main critique of this is its relative lack of carbonation, but otherwise its very pleasant. the nose has a little pixie stick thing to it, watermelon hard candy, fruit punch, lemony acidity, and enough grain at the core of it to keep it beery, which i appreciate in the style, still quite light overall. some lime character in the flavor, maybe in the lactic profile, sets up the watermelon part well, which is juicy and thirst inducing at the same time that its kind of refreshing, it could be drier, but its easy to place as watermelon and doesnt linger too long on the swallow. just enough pale malt to this, a bit candied on the fruit part, and woefully under carbonated, but a summer vacation type of sour that has its place. overall the beer here isnt epic yet, but its solid, and there is certainly something for everyone, we had a lot of fun checking it out and drinking through much of the lineup, will be back for sure.
