Cubic Duck - from Velum. 16 fl oz can, purchased from Franklin Beer Co, Franklin, PA, 11/07/24, $ 3.50 (Including tax), $ 0.219/fl oz. Reviewed 16/07/24 (Review 3320). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored in reefer at the distributor, 34 degrees at home. Served at 45.1 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 51.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), hazy.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), opaque. Under direct light, small precipitates are visible. When rear-lite, still opaque.
Head – Average (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), alabaster, high density, and short retention, leaving a 0.9 – 1.5 cm crown and cap.
Lacing – Very good – three-dimensional bands of tiny to small bubbles, connected by thin columns.
Aroma – 3.5 – Subdued blended citrus juice, sans lemon or lime. No yeast, no malt, no alcohol (6.3 % ABV, according to the label).
Flavor – 3.5 – Follows the nose. No yeast, no malt, no alcohol. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Slow, mild gastric warming.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium; almost creamy; soft but lively carbonation.
Final Impression and summation: 3.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for an unlabeled personal container) The oats help with the palate, making it medium and creamy. Otherwise, just another hazy IPA.
