Shadow Pup, named after our famed @kaiju_thebrewdog ! She's a beaut (the beer and the pup!) This stout is light bodied, with notes of dark chocolate, raisins, and toasted pumpernickel bread coming in at 6.5% ABV!

Shadow Pup - from Velum. 16 fl oz can purchased from Franklin Beer Co, Franklin, PA, 01/07/24, $ 3.50 (Including tax), $ 0.219/fl oz. Reviewed 08/07/24 (Review 3313). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored in reefer at the distributor, 34 degrees at home. Served at 47.2 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 53.7 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), clear.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same with light penetration at the edges, amber brown.
Head – Average (Maximum 2.8 cm, aggressive center pour), buff lightening to wheat as it oxygenates, high density and slightly fizzy, leaving a 0.3 cm crown and a thin, complete cap.
Lacing – Fair. A couple of arcs of near-microscopic bubbles, disintegrating into torn curtains.
Aroma – 3.25 – Weak cocoa and toasted malt. No yeast, no hops, no alcohol (6.5 % ABV, according to the can).
Flavor – 3.25 – Lightly bitter with a toasted malt and weak cocoa. No yeast, no hops, no alcohol. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Faint gastric warming.
Palate – 3 – Medium to full; creamy; soft but lively carbonation.
Final Impression and summation: 3.25 (After deducting 0.25 point for undated personal container) Decent American stout – nothing special.
