Colab between 6 Vancouver brewers for 2013 craft beer month.
Appearance. Pours a dark brown, black in the glass and topped with half a finger of light tan head.
Smell. Ginger-like floral spice from the spruce, dark coffee and some cocoa powder.
Taste. That spruce flavour is definitely there, some cocoa and a bit of coffee. Flavours are nice but very muted.
Mouthfeel. Thin and a bit watery with it's light body, nice medium-low carbonation
Overall. I see what they were going for here, a session beer with unique flavour. Unfortunately I'm left begging for a bit more of what flavour is there. A nice beer that a little too much on the light side for me ...but I do appreciate the low abv.
