A-pour is a dark gold from the bottle to an amber in the glass with a small beige head leaving a streaky lace along the pint
S-malty mostly
T-malt again is dominate with a bitter swallow
MF-ok carbonation , medium body

Dark amber with creamy tan head. 4
Orange jellys and soap on the nose. 3.75
Apricot on dark toast, peach, EKG spice, and marmalade. 3.75
Sour toffee end, and slight IBUs to end.

650ml bottle. Weird how some of this brewer's offerings are widely available in Alberta, but not this one, amongst a few others - what up Liquor Stores Ltd, or whatever the fuck you're called?

This beer pours a somewhat hazy medium orange-amber colour, with two fingers of silken foamy, eggshell white head, which leaves some nice swollen rain cloud lace around the glass as it readily recedes.

It smells of semi-sweet pale malt, a touch of caramel, meek clover honey, a bit of apple fruitiness, and softly bitter earthy, floral hops. The taste is sweetly grainy, bready malt, again with the ethereal caramel/toffee notes, some middling orchard fruitiness, and tame earthy, floral hops.

The bubbles are laid back, but hardly inert, as they rear up from time to time, the body medium-light in weight, and smooth with a slightly flinty edge. It finishes off-dry, the bready, fruity malt holding court, with the floral, leafy hops doing well in their jester roles.

A decent pale ale, of the English persuasion, to be sure, as the hops keep it tight to the breast, the latent fruitiness keeps on keeping on, and the hops do well to render their cause an effective one. Another one of those offerings which engenders a pub meets volume meets social sphere kind of thing, maybe?

 

 

On tap at Bin 941. Vancouver, BC.

A: Dark copper brown in color but extremely clear. White head foam that thinned out immediately. Decent amount of lacing present throughout.

S: Malt and honey with a hint of hops.

T: Malt and wheat are the main flavors with a tiny amount of hops present. The wheat flavor was so dominant that I felt as if I were drinking a heavy lager at times.

M: Light carbonation, no real presence of alcohol.

O: This is an inoffensive and very easy drinking pale ale. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this beer, but there's nothing truly special about it either.

On cask at The Irish Heather, on to the beer:

The body is a little hazy of this burnt orange colored beer. The foam is a "rough" kind of creamiess in appearance, especially as it leaves healthy lacing around the glass. Butterscotch and diacetyl in the nose...and to think this is labled an APA. It tastes English to me; with the nutty flavors, the diacetyl, and soft yeast. The twist of pine towards the end of each sip delievers a Canadian accent to this very smooth, lightly carbonated beer.

Well, I certainly enjoyed this one.

It pours a clear, but muddled amber-copper with a nice chunky head. The head left even chunkier lacing. The head slowly became a layer of white bubbles with its collar popped. This visually pleased me. When I sniffed at it surprised me with what I found tickling my nose. It was fruity, but not a hop fruity, aroma. It was more of a raisin with hints of prune aroma. Hmm, alright. Sip time. Light maltiness, a light sweetness, fruitiness again, but it was more prune with hints of other dark fruits. Kind of like the dark German lagers I've been drinking lately. Over all everything was kind of mellow. Light body with light, smooth carbonation.

Looks and tastes more like an amber ale to me but I enjoyed it. Nice, lively mouth feel without being over-carbonated. The flavour is more to the hops than the malt, which makes it to my liking. Very smooth in the back of the mouth with a slightly dry aftertaste. I'd definitely drink this one again.

Light copper coloured beer with a slight chill haze. Small off-white head that disappears very quickly. Minimal lace.
Smell is mainly malty with some fruity notes (dried sour cherries?) Mild floral hop aroma.
Mild taste, especially compared to what I was expecting from the smell, but the same characteristics, malty and fruity. Mild hop bitterness lingers on the tongue.
Moderate carbonation and decent body.
Fairly accessible beer.

Nice reddy-copper colour with a good head, and okay lacing. Looks nice. Smell's pleasant, but within the standards of a typical pale ale. Hops are not easily detectable, and the malt scent is quite noticeable.

Taste okay, but has a sour edge to it. This is not dissimilar to what I tasted in their Auld Nick winter warmer, but far less pronounced a noticeable. A good malt-hop balance. The malts are there, but the hops are noticeable enough that this could almost be a weak IPA. Hoppy, but not qute hoppy enough.

This is an okaay beer. There's not too much wrong with it (aside from the sour edge on the taste) but this is by no means spectacular. I've had better pale alse, but I've also had worse.

This is my second R & B, and I notice a lot of similarities between the Red Devil Pale Ale and the Hop Goblin IPA -- not much of a surprise, I guess.

It poured a coppery dark brown colour. As with their IPA, the incredible clarity is almost creepy! The head was similarly completely white, and quickly shrunk to a thin foam. And, again, a little bit of lacing was left on the glass.

The aroma is a sweety fruity malt, with some hoppy tones and a hint of honey.

The flavour starts off with some mild malt. There is some hoppy bitterness, but not a lot of hop -flavours- exactly. As with their IPA, the finish is slightly metallic. The flavours are nice, but again quite simple, leaving me wishing for a bit more. There is a slight grainy flavour throughout.

The mouthfeel is mild and light, with light carbonation.

Anyhow, though my wife disagrees, I find this quite drinkable. I was underwhelmed by the flavour. Though there's nothing wrong with it, it doesn't have the complexity I'd like to find. It's a very "safe" beer.
