I visited Distant West a little while back to check out one of the newest breweries in town. They're located in Reuben's original space in Ballard; this means the tables and chairs are set up in the middle of the brewhouse — you can hardly get a more authentic brewery experience. Pretty much as industrial as it gets, but welcoming nonetheless. There's no bar to sit at, but the walk up service is friendly enough.
There were 11 taps (including a couple of collabs) and a can pour available when I was there: WC IPA, cold IPA, NW pale, hazy IPA, lager, cream ale (also a version with mango), dry-hopped-saison, schwarzbier, American stout, and a marshmallow stout. I would say the quality of the beers I had was not top-notch, but this brewery is new and just getting their feet under them, so I definitely plan to return in a year or so and see how they've grown.
