a cold ipa with some character, but definitely my least favorite of the beers we had here. a bit of an orange tone to it, more malt color than is common in these for sure, but it looks tidy anyway and holds a nice half inch or more of thick creamy white head, really looks well refined, even its more grainy than most. the nose is slightly estery, almost like the yeast was actually belgian and warm or something rather than done near lager temperatures as the style demands. pineapple and pear, could be a hop thing, but it seems almost phenolic which was the last thing i was expecting in here, more of that as it warms, but not quite yeasty either, strange, i wish i knew what hops were in here, im going to lean into saying its from hops, as their quality was great across the rest of their beers and i have to assume this was intentional. could be el dorado, i get melon and peach, in the flavor, some pine too, and there is an intensity about it that rides some of the grain sweetness, a curious recipe choice but this is super fresh and it stands out as unique and not disagreeable taken on the whole. faint vanilla and mango, but its rightly bitter too, which rules, and i think this definitely is a one of a kind type of cold ipa, even its weird enough to keep me from adoring it, it intrigues me. these guys are cool.
