Made in collaboration with our buds in South Philly, Brewery ARS, this west coast pale ale was brewed with a base of Rabbit Hill Malthouse 2 row and pilsner malt, and a dash of crystal malt for some nostalgia.
Hopped hot side with simcoe, citra, and krush, dry hopped with krush and citra. Pungent and classic notes of tangerine citrus, lemon balm, cannabis, grapefruit pith, and pine resin.

16oz can purchased off the shelf as a single for $3.25 plus tax. Surprisingly for Tonewood, no canned on date. This was released pretty recently though. From Instagram, it looks like it was released on March 14, so it's almost 2 1/2 months old.
Look: Pours a nice orangey gold color with nice clarity. Moderate carbonation. There was a nice head upon pouring, but it dissipated to nothing very quickly. The beer became just slightly hazy after pouring the bottom of the can.
Smell: It smells really nice. Definitely getting the Citra up front. There are nice notes of mandarin orange and juiciness. I think that there are some stone fruit notes also like mango, peach, and apricot. On the finish, I get some creaminess and a subtle green bell pepper note.
Taste: Delicious. It's really tasty and it gives me that balance that I am looking for in a good American Pale Ale. Up front, it's juicy, a bit sweet, very clean. The finish is mildly to moderately bitter, lingering for a while. The finish is crisp and dry. Actually, the finish is a bit astringent because it has such an intense tangerine peel and pith character to it. Keeps you going back for more. The beer is also nicely carbonated. The flavors are also well-balanced and echo the notes on the nose. I can see why they call this a session beer because it's very drinkable. The finish does have some more interesting medicinal type notes, which could be from the Krush hops. The beer gained some balance on the palate after pouring the bottom of the can - astringency went away and a bit of juiciness was added. Overall, it's very tasty and enjoyable.
Feel: It's on the lighter side of medium body. Very clean, pretty easy drinking yet not lacking in flavor.
Overall: I've had several Tonewood beers before and I am a fan. I've been wanting to try a beer from ARS for a while, so it's super cool that the two breweries collaborated to make this awesome American Pale Ale. I think that this is also my first exposure to Krush hops. It's nice to experience a beer that is both old school and unique at the same time. Personally, I really enjoy a good American Pale Ale so I really appreciate when I see a local brewery putting something new like this out, not to mention that it is a cool collab. I would drink this again, well done!
