This deep brown, almost black beer was served with a rather thin head. Minimal roasted aromas were present. The flavor was strong roasted malt and coffee with a substantial caramel sweetness. The finish had a nice hop bitterness component to it. Also a bit of fruitiness in the finish as well. Mouthfeel was solid, but not overly smooth, as it had perhaps a touch too much carbonation. Good drinkability with a hint of coffee on the aftertaste. A decent brew that may have been much better nitrogenated.
