Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium golden amber with a five finger white head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, grassy and lightly citrus hops, lemon and hay. Flavor is pale malt, lemon, grapefruit, tea; grassy and lemony citrus finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. An interesting take on the helles style; not really that pale and with some haziness. Aroma and flavor lean to citrus as well as traditional grassy noble hops. I'm not familiar with the Contessa hop; I would have guessed citra and a continental variety. Not very traditional, but actually was more to my taste. I like the bright citrus character mixed with the noble hop quite a bit better than most helles. Bitterness is slightly more assertive than traditional to, also to my taste. A nice, crisp, hoppy lager. My first beer from the BIPOC box from Half Time and I'm already pleased.
