Served in a Ladenburger pilsener glass.
Pours a mostly clear dark brown with a tannish head that fades away rapidly. The smell is mostly just dark, chocolatey malts and hops, though there is a faint hint of caramel in there as well. The taste follows to a T, beginning with a maltiness founded on chocolate and finishing with a sharp twinge of hoppy bitterness. The caramel sub-odor is still present on the tongue, but even more subtle than before, caught between the malts and hops. The body is somewhat thick, but very smooth, leading to a relatively high drinkability.
