Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance – The beer is served a dark brown color with a tiny head of brown foam. The head fades fast leaving a touch of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – the aroma is strongest of a dark chocolate and coffee smell, mixed with tons of roastiness and some caramel. There is a little bit of strawberry and a touch of crème and smoke.
Taste – the taste begins with a roasty malt and dark chocolate taste mixed with a bit of strawberry and raspberry flavor. At the same time there is a decent showing of toast and some light crème, along with a bit of brown sugar and caramel. The sweet is rather moderate overall, never really becoming too overwhelming. As the taste moves onto the end, there is a bit of char and more toast that come in, leaving one with a dark, moderately sweet, light chocolate strawberry taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – the body was moderate in thickness with a lower carbonation level. A bit more body would have been better, but overall, the feel was decent.
Overall – A decent dessert stout overall. Nothing super extraordinary, but fun to try none the less.
