A very smooth tasting dark beer with lightly roasted malt flavors - a robust taste experience.

Glad I found this beer in a small shop in Sigmaringen, small city in southwest Germany (not Bavaria, but Swabia) where it is brewed.
Finally something different from the pervasive Pilsener in Germany. Too bad the supermarkets of the area don`t have it in their sortiment.
I am not a master of describing the beer with the right words, I just can say I like the fresh and malty taste. It reminds me a bit of an Alt beer from Duesseldorf. Luckily they used the old recipe from 160 years ago to make the beer and didn`t make a Pilsener style dark beer of it like other breweries do. This said, it is not very hoppy, but that is a good thing in this case.
The look in the glass is not that great, though. After a short time the foam is gone, but there is still plenty of carbonation, which adds a really refreshing component to this otherwise rather heavy dark malty beer ("heavy" compared to Pilsener).
I think it is a good autumn and winter beer, but in summer you could drink it also.
Very drinkable, and not too much alcohol, so it is possible to have a few, as the taste is not too heavy and overpowering, and you will still be able to talk after 3.
