On-tap at Gasthaus Bären in Tübingen. They have an extensive range of beers from this brewery. This is a rich, full-bodied Helles and when it was served to me, they referred to it as an Export. After first sip, I’m not surprised. It’s definitely on the strong side of the Helles style. Big malt bill heavy on the barny grain. Lingering malt sweetness. Delicious.

Update: found bottles of Fischer’s at the massive getrankemarkt in Stuttgart. A local BW brewery SW of Stuttgart. Really enjoyed every beer from this brewery on draft at a pub so I didn’t hesitate to buy a bottle of every style available. Best by 26.04.24 so still plenty fresh. Certainly an export, with a strong sweet malt bill.

Fischer's Brauhaus Mössingen “Fischer’s Spezial Hell”
,5L brown glass bottle coded “MINDESTENS HALTBAR BIS: 10.03.22”. Sampled on 09.24.21.
€,80 @ Fischer’s Brauerei Markt, Mössingen, DE

Look: Fingerprints through the glass clarity. Straw gold in color beneath a standard head of bright white foam. The head retention and lacing are better than average.
Smell: Clean with fresh Pilsner malt and a light touch of floral and mildly herbal hops. “Noble”.
Taste: Delicately sweetish and subtly grassy Pilsner malt is paired with just as delicate Tettnanger Tettnang hops and a soft bitterness. Short, mostly dry finish with a swirl of spiciness left lingering.
Feel: Medium to medium-light in body and gently effervescent.
Overall: This is a very refined and superbly balanced beer that displays its two main flavor components clearly while not going too far. It’s remarkably refreshing while also being highly satisfying.
