Fischer's Brauhaus Mössingen “Fischer’s Diamant”
,33L brown glass bottle coded “MINDESTENS HALTBAR: 05.02.22”. Sampled on 09.22.21.
€,85 @ Fischer’s Brauerei Markt, Mössingen, DE
I was hoping for more from this seasonal beer but I found myself let down. I’m guessing that it’s named after the Diamant hop that was developed in Huell, but on the label it simply lists Tettnanger Tettnang and Tettnanger Callista. It’s lightly floral with notes of orange and red berries, and that comes through in the beer, but not with any strength. That could be coming from Diamant hops, or from Callista hops as they also offer the same notes. There’s no way to tell because there just aren’t enough hops there that anything is really clear. Beyond that it’s just a basic helles. I wish that they’d used more hops, and also that they’d used more malt as this beer is fairly light and clocks in at a limited 3.8%ABV. I understand that Germans are very trepidatious about new ingredients and variations in beer but if you’re going to make a seasonal beer I think you’ve got to go a little further out on the limb than this. As it stands I’ve reviewed it simple as a helles bier and it gets fairly good marks as it’s well made and nicely balanced.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
