Vom fass at Maulwurf in Vaihingen on a Sunday when VfB Stuttgart looks like they’re headed towards relegation. For such a high ABV%, this is super smooth and light in color. A sneaky beer. Slightly sweet, less bock and more export lager. A solid beer nonetheless.

This is a great Maibock - crisp, clear, with clear taste. As a Maibock is meant to be consumed between May and June. While the brewery cites it as available throughout the year due to its popularity, the variation between batches outside this period can lead this beer to taste either amazing or pretty bad (probably one of the reasons of the scores in the 3 range). Once again, this beer is best tasted by gulping along with the meal, not by sipping. This is typically a beer I bring to friends when I come back from Alsace to the US and until now the reception was great.

Easy drinking MaiBock. While the listing here says it is a Spring beer, as one would expect from a Maibock, the Brewery's website lists it as a yearlong specialty. I purchased my bottle in December. Decent Bock.

So a 12 pack of this was brought to my house by a friend who can to visit from Germany. A Maibock. Put 'em in the fridge and...
Poured into a snifter.
Comes out golden yellow, just a bit hazy with a two finger white head.
Smells of malts, some spices and hops. Nothing too exciting.
Taste is a bit sweeter as expected must be the malts. There is a bit of spice to detect and a little bit of hop bitterness.
A medium body with quite a bit of carbonation. Slight dry finish.
While this is not a very exciting beer I did enjoy this sitting on my deck in the sun.

I don't know the color. Steinkrug. The foam is beautiful and creamy, cream colored.
Malty smell, with the presence of a light hop in the back, fresh.
The taste is malty, clear, not too sweet, quite round and full, but not boring at all.
Malty aftertaste. Not bad.

A beautiful fine, dense creamy head on a golden color body. Nothing relevant in the smell. I thought this beer was more about the mouthfeel than about the taste. Malty and slightly sweet. The mouthfeel is very round, smooth and unctuous. A herbal almost grassy astringent hoppiness arrives in the second wave, after the malts. An enjoyable maibock, but it lacks some crazyness.
