Look: Hazy deep golden body beneath a full head of dense, bright white foam. The head retention is very good and it leaves plenty of fine lacing as it goes.
Smell: Sweetish wheaty malt with moderate phenolics of banana and clove.
Taste: Gently sweet and wheaty malt is the main component with minor notes of banana and clove. The bitterness is low but enough to balance it, and it finishes short and mainly dry.
Feel: Medium bodied and spritzy.
Overall: A well done hefeweizen that satisfies.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy amber color with a nice white head that slowly reduces to a thin layer. The scent is banana and citrus, although it is light. The taste is bready with some banana.

I tasted a bottle of Heidelberger hefeweizen Hell on 27th Oct 2008, the "best by" date was 12.10.08, so technically this bottle was just past it's best.

It poured a very cloudy orange brown brew with a short-lived white head.

Aroma was subdued hefe aroma; very little banana, some citrus, not much spiciness noted.

The taste was not too bad, but was really a way short of being a nice hefe. There was a thinnish (diluted) feel to this brew; not much substance and I would find it hard to believe that it might be much better if the bottle was fresher.

The appearence deteriorated over the course of the drinking to give a 'flat soupy' appearence.
Disappointing.
