LA PERRILLA is a beer with a light toasted grain taste, made from six malts with a deep caramel flavor. It has an appearance between amber and reddish copper. LA PERRILLA is not afraid of any accompaniment, enjoy it with strong flavors such as: barbecue ribs, meats or your favorite pizza.

The beer looks good with a nice amber color, good head, good retention, good lacing. The smell has a bit of a homebrew whiff to it. Hard to pin down, but I think the yeast is just a little overwrought. I'm noticing the beers from this brewery have a ton of sediment on the bottom of the 12oz bottle, so I think the slight funk, slight homebrew something or other is from the yeast. The taste has that same homebrew thing going on. Not sure if its the carbonation or the yeast, but it comes across as being a bit amateurish in quality. There is plenty of malt with some decent peat in the background. Not bad, but .... Lots of carbonation as well. The feel is another high point. This beer hides its 7% ABV exceptionally well. I would never have guessed it was that high. This is medium bodied with lots of carbonation and no, zero, zilch booziness, and that's a good thing, This is my 3rd beer from El Granero (the Barn) brewery and probably better than the others previously reviewed. They have an IPA that I haven't been able to find but will review when I do.
