Secret Garden is clear and gold within a Laura pilsner glass. The head is formed by very large, rocky bubbles that momentarily reach one quarter inch before immediately dissipating to zero. No lacing even had a chance to form.
The aroma of this one is all about the green peppers playing off of the crisp grains. The green pepper is very strong and surprisingly appealing.
The flavor opens with mild bitterness and light sweetness. The green peppers can't help but be present. It has a nice spiciness that opens in the middle and carries into a long, modest finish.
The alcohol is well below expectations and barely perceptible. It has a medium body and nice heat from the spicy peppers that sneaks up on you. It is lightly carbonated.
This is one of those vegetable beers that makes no excuses and prominently features the vegetable. I found it to be simultaneously interesting and a tasty twist on the humble Cream Ale.
