This Kolsch is yellow gold and clear (SRM 3-4). A thin, off-white foam forms a ring and a veil within a minute. There are some patches of lace on the Red Hook stange glass.

The aroma opens with sweet grains and green grapes. Light peppery hops follow, and a mild floral perfume shows up as it warms.

The flavor is crisp, with medium bitterness and mild sweetness. Astringent sorrel or watercress quickly become apparent and linger in the finish.

There is no perceived alcohol. A modest, fizzy carbonation, and a dry finish. The body is light to medium with a fine nylon texture.

This is a good, refreshing beer on a hot afternoon. It would significantly improve if only the astringency could be dialed down.
